Meanwhile, big things are happening in my art studio, and I can hardly wait for the months of planning to begin to unfold. There are collab projects, and my own sweet ideas unfolding in a stream of new art workshops that I am offering.
Adult art workshops began for me, this year, with a number Art Journalling projects, the first of which was funded by Isle of Man Art Development and Occupational Health. Art Journalling can be a great place to work through thoughts and generate ideas, a place to make a mess, develop, sketch, research and it has become an art in it's own right. The workshops are designed to help encourage people to let go, try something new especially some wonderful art processes - hoping they lead people to a healthy art practice. It is a huge honour delivering creativity into people's lives, and Art Journalling can be the perfect beginning.
I am sharing with you one of my favourite art journal books (1000 Artist Journal Pages: Personal Pages and Inspirations by Dawn DeVries Sokol), it is full of art from inspiring artists around the world and sure to make you want to paint, collage and print gallore and if you have been wondering about giving visual art a go, then I fully recommend art journalling as a good starting point! I will hold a new Journal boot camp workshop in September, a great kick start to get you going with a number of projects, a time to experiment with different mediums and get a feel journalling, paving - DON'T BE AFRAID!!!
I have a beautiful full class for Printmaking at the moment - I love working with a big group and along with delivering technique and process, I am filled with joy watching people share their discoveries and learn through practice. If you want to give this a go, there will be a new run of printmaking workshops in September.
Frida Khalo Wall Panels, Mixed Media Art workshop is about full (only one space left), this June and will include a step by step process, however it includes room for people to develop their own styling, I am looking forward to it. Frida is such an iconic figure of independence, strength and amazing art against all adversity.....this workshop will be sprinkled with just a little magical Mexican colour. I will be sure to post some of the results in my next blog.
Finally - my website will be undergoing a massive re-vamp over the next few months and will include a new shop and a series of online art workshops - more about that later! If you want to keep up-to-date with any art workshop news, live or online then subscribe here using the link below.
For now, I am going to honour the Sun while this amazing weather lasts (thunder and lightening is on its way (as I hope you all are).
